As he goes down with another knee injury just when we thought he was finally back…
Dear Mr. Derrick Rose,
When you went down in the first round of the playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers, I knew it was bad. And when you sat out last season, I knew it was because you were going to come back bigger, faster, stronger, and better. And now that MIGHT miss the rest of this season too with another knee injury, I’m at a loss for words, but I’d like to say thank you.
Thank you for bringing back Chicago basketball.
And for making everyone a believer.
Thank you for all the nasty things you’ve done to the Miami Heat.
And thank you for making it look so easy.
Thank you for this game-winner.
And for all of your game-winners.
Thank you for going higher.
Higher than we’ve ever seen.
Like, to a whole other level of highness.
Thank you for keeping your head on a swivel and leaving your opponents in the dust.
And for making defenders look like fools.
Thank you for this block.
For all of your unbelievable blocks.
Thank you for this impossible layup.
Thank you for this monster slam dunk.
And for basically doing it all.
But most of all, thank you for being you.
Because you care about your city.
And no matter what happens, we got your back.
